As part of the Computing Meeting on Ethical Hacking, organized by Fundación Universitaria San Martín (Ibagué campus) and its Systems Engineering Program, hands-on activities were held to strengthen participants’ information-protection skills.
The core exercise was cybersecurity auditing through penetration testing: students simulated controlled attacks to identify vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and web applications. Reconnaissance and port-scanning workshops, using specialized tools, mapped a system’s topology and detected services exposed without proper security configuration.
The meeting also covered social engineering with an awareness focus, digital forensics and incident response, and source-code analysis. The common goal was to understand the importance of secure software development and of informed user behavior.
